Inky is a sweet 1 year old girl who already had one litter of kittens and was on her way to a second when she had complications. A bowel blockage took the second litter of 6 babies and almost took her life too. Thanks to VVS in Charlottesville and surgeon Kevin Stiffler she has a chance to life a good long life. Help us pay her surgery bill.
Right now there are still restrictions on adoption events and keeping animals in stores so to compensate we have started using Petfinder.
Please use this link to see the available cats we have.
Cause 4 Paws’ PetFinder ID # is VA805 and the zip code to use for searching available cats is 22508.
Currently we have kittens but they won’t be available for another 2-4 weeks as we get them spayed/neutered before they are put up for adoption. If you are interested in kittens please use our contact form on the Contact Us page. When you have decided to adopt please download our adoption form, complete it, and send us an email through our Contact Us page. (We are working on automating our form).
We are now in three Petsmart‘s: Spotsylvania, Central Park, and Culpepper.
Come in and visit and find a new furry friend.
Come see us at the final February event at the Central Park PetSmart. We will be there from 11 – 5 Saturday and Sunday.
See us and some new cats at our next adoption event on Jan 18/19 assuming the weather cooperates!
We will be at the Central Park PetSmart. Hope to see you there!
*Available cat page will be updated after the event is concluded*
The Good News and Bad News of Rescue
Every year we pray that kitten season will not bring us more than we can handle. This year has amazed everyone! The numbers of kittens needing our help seems endless. Every rescue group and shelter in our area, and beyond, is filled to overflowing. We are stretched to the maximum for people to foster and for the dollars we need to spend to get all of them healthy. This is the reason we are so adament about spaying and neutering all cats.
Your support has helped us rescue more cats and kittens this year than ever before. In 2018 we had 262 adoptions for the whole year. This year with 2 more months to go we are at 269! Wow! Thank YOU!
Currently we have 3 bottle babies that came to us in trouble. They all have damaged eyes. The good news is they are all eating well and growing. The bad news is they are all going to be blind or partially blind. Please pray for Peanut, Pecan and Cashew. These tiny ones were found in a storm drain. How their eyes got damaged is a mystery. All we know for sure is none of them will have normal vision. At least one kitten will need an eye removed.
Cats are amazing. They can have a very normal life with one eye. If they are totally blind they need more protection and help from us but they still can have a wonderful life. Thank you for helping Peanut, Pecan (passed away), & Cashew!
If you have the heart to help a cat with special needs live in a loving home, please let us know. These sweet babies will be up for adoption in a few months and will need special people like you to take care of them.
At the Central Park PetSmart in Fredericksburg, VA we will be set up with all of our adoptable cats. Come by and find a new friend!

Saying Farewell to Carolyn Cernea
On June 21, 2019 Carolyn Cernea was met by her numerous cats at the rainbow bridge. She was greeted and ushered in as a hero. Her love of animals, especially cats, took most of her waking hours. CC took excellent care of her “PetSmart Rejects” (meaning they didn’t get adopted because they were too afraid). Carolyn was President of the Orange County Humane Society at one time. More recently she was Correspondence Secretary and a very active member of Cause 4 Paws. She participated in fundraisers, selling raffle tickets, collecting prizes at local businesses and whatever else she could do to help cats. We remember when she went all over downtown Fredericksburg at the Heritage Festival with a sandwich board, selling Raffle tickets. Whenever there was a Cause 4 Paws event, CC was there.
CC would always greet everyone she met with her great big smile and a formal greeting. If she was calling you on the phone the greeting was something like this. “Is this the remarkable, beautiful Mrs. Miller, who I am speaking to?” After all she was an English Major in College and it showed throughout her life. If she was writing a newsletter or naming a cat, CC had a special flare for words. Some of her cats were named: “Millard Fillmore”, “General Zachery Taylor”, “Silky”& “Moonbeam” and several other US Presidents. She enjoyed Poetry and wanted it published where people would read it to enrich their lives. All of her correspondence was in longhand, using snail mail. (She really didn’t like email.)
